Spring is a very busy season here at Secret World Wildlife Rescue. It's that wonderful time of year when everything is waking up and animals are having their young. Wild animals are trying their best to rear their young, but thousands of these tiny and vulnerable animals become orphans and have a difficult start to life. Whether it's fox dens being disturbed by building work, chicks falling out of nests due to high winds, or intentional persecution and cruelty, these orphans need your help.
Our Spring raffle is raising money to help this year's orphans. They need food, warmth, medicine, and in some cases round-the-clock monitoring, to give them the best possible second chance at life in the wild. Every entry to our raffle could pay for a meal, a few hours in an incubator, or the PPE now required when handling birds.
We are delighted to offer a very special and unique prize for this auction. This beautiful painting of a hedgehog is a one-off commission by Karl Taylor, winner of multiple awards and first wildlife artist to exhibit at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. You can find more information about Karl here: https://www.harbourlightsgallery.com/karl-taylor-original-paintings-and-limited-edition-prints/
The painting is acrylic on panel, image measures 6 x 11", and framed size is 10 x 15". The artwork has been valued at £500 and is one of a kind.
The donor of the painting gave us some background information:
"The hedgehog in the picture is of Miss Hoggit, a young female who I found in my garden during a hot, sunny day, dehydrated and tired. After a check up at the vets and rest and water in my kitchen, she was released that evening."
You could win this incredible piece of art for just £2 per entry. Entries close at noon on Tuesday 9th May, and the winner will be selected and notified within 7 days. All money raised from the raffle will support some of the roughly 5,000 sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals we help every year.
